I have been using Jenny Lomas to trim my horses feet for over 5 years. In typical horse fashion we started with one pony (a Kaimanawa) for my daughter and now have four horses. The Kaimanawa has been a real challenge behaviour wise and we learned very fast that grass is not a horses best friend! When we inherited a thoroughbred I fully appreciated the joys of hard feet we had enjoyed with the pony. The thoroughbred has no work and had had no attention for a few years so Jenny has worked to bring the feet back to some sort of manageable state with an ongoing battle with seedy toe. This winter has been the best so far for hoof health with me keeping all horses on very minimal grass and just hay. Previous years I had been mixing all sorts of concoctions of feed (boiling barley, wetting ezibeet etc). I keep these four horses on a very small plot of land and by splitting it into 5 and break feeding with a bale morning and night at some stages their feet were excellent! Now we just have to keep up the good work and with Jennyâ€s great work it is always a lot easier. So we now have pony, tb, lease hack which we are show jumping and hacking barefoot and my plodder who happily hacks out over metal and farm tracks barefoot. Thanks Jenny for many years of great service.
